About Our School
Boone County Jiu-Jitsu is a new Jiu-Jitsu gym in Belvidere, Illinois. We opened in October 2024 and are looking to grow the local Jiu-Jitsu community. Our gym is not a place to be considered a “fight club” or a place of violence. Self-defense acquisition takes precedence over fighting ability here, with skills emphasized over victories. This ensures our culture is unlike those in BJJ who stray away from positivity. With consistency and an established curriculum, students will learn to defend themselves while enjoying the process. Fun is key, as we help students build self-confidence while improving social skills. Come into our gym and grow through a wholesome BJJ experience!
Our History
Boone County Jiu-Jitsu opened in October 2024 and is looking to begin a long journey of community and growth. The gym was opened by Matt Atkinson, Jason Burgett, and Aaron Johnson for a simple reason: to bring Jiu-Jitsu to Belvidere. Jason and Aaron will lead as coaches, with the both of them sporting nine years of training and seven of coaching. Their years of experience is one of the building blocks to Boone County Jiu-Jitsu’s beginnings. The other is our desire to serve the community by helping students grow and become the people they want to be.

Boone County Jiu-Jitsu offers engaging Jiu-Jitsu classes for all ages!
Our classes are divided into Kids Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 8-13) and Adult Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 14+), with both Gi and No Gi options available. Each class is designed to create a positive, supportive environment focused on skill-building, self-defense, and fun. As a special offer, new students can start with a free one-week trial, and we also provide a 10% membership discount for military members and first responders.
